The Perfect tutu and the perfect pose, those touches that make for the perfect Newborn portrait!

Sounds so simple doesn't it? But what it takes is much patience and a certain eye. Choosing the correct props, halos and colours are all important aspects that will come together to create an image that works, I love creating soft classic portraits and parents really love this sort of image that look stunning when wall mounted.

For the image above, a simple floral headband has been used. This one was purchased as a set from Ebay for around £12, but I make many of my newborn props also, and the above tutu is one I made myself.

Buying newborn props is an expensive business so I always try to create my own props. Not only does this save on expensive prices, but it also gives me artistic ideas and ensures that every shoot I do has a completely different end result. I have many fur rugs, like the one in this shot, as I use fur in almost all Newborn shoots, and many babies love the soft feel of the fur on their skin!

This shoot was for a family in Greenwich, London. I just love visiting my customers in the comfort of their own home and each time I love to work with their home and decor; this shot, for example, was taken on their settee with window light from behind, and it worked perfectly.
